Thursday, February 21, 2008

ATTENDANCE:
Present: Board/representatives- Kristen Arntzen, Aram Bayzaee, Harold Berman, Stacie Brown, Mike Kirby, Mark Suri, & Jim Weaver.
Visitors-, Mike Ferren, George Garner Jr., Aaron & Tim Harrison, Andrew Nordyke, Jim O’Connell, Jeff Perkins Stanley, Schultz, Brean Shea, & Barry Taerbaum.
GENERAL: Meeting begun by Aram with Aram Bayzaee, Harold Berman, Stacie Brown, Mike Kirby, and Jim Weaver in attendance for quorum.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
A. Presidents Report-Aram Bayzaee
January minutes approved.
Computer system complete and updated by Manfred, Dave and Trey McClure.
Website updates were suggested to include other local road & community events.
Links to websites that affect us personally or community wide. Such as, MSRide, Avon 3 day walk, Children’s Miracle Network and World Bicycle Relief. We should create and host a page dedicated to these websites and their links. Giving these organizations exposure as a community service.
Voted and approved additional $10 & $20 to season pass for one night of night racing.
Juniors($160) and Adults($300).
Vendors are needed for Racer Goody Bag----Min 150 units
B. V.P. of Rider Development-Harold Berman
Monday and Tuesday training combined for Thursday “peak”.
NCC Calendar lists all NCC and other track events/activities.
C. Race Director- Manfred Ray-absent
D. Government Relations Director’s Report-Mark Harris-absent
E. Treasurer Director’s Report-Mark Suri
Has no updated financial for ’07 track stats and will not sign off on this data since it is incomplete; Aram offered to track that info down.
5/15/08 is accountant filing deadline.
F. Communications Director-Mike Kirby
Checked out other Velodrome website’s for comparisons/ideas.
(Aram) Racer bio’s needs approval by webmaster; need format for information additions and eventual approval; methods are being explored by Mike.
(Aram) Checking cost for printed racer “T” shirts.
G. Public Relations Director-Kristen Arntzen
Would like to start a Women’s Mentoring program to acclimate women to the racing environment. The idea grew into a Men’s program with an emphasis on Safety.
Suggested entertainment ideas to create more fans in the stands:
Bands to play “Star Spangled Banner” or other entertainment.
High School, jazz, specialty, etc.
Focus is on a Thursday Race Night in May & July 10th.
Especially pertaining to school band availability.
Suggested extra Turin water bottle inventory for track handout.
Others suggested alternative locations that would give new exposure; use with coupons or specials for new traffic.
Seminar would be great interest builder and support for women racers.

$379 Internet bill needs to be paid; invoice sent to Manfred Ray and
outstanding magnet promotional needs editing.
N.B. District Spring/Summer guide is out.
Masters championship is listed w/o rain date.
(Aram) Suggested to purchase of camera eye and mount to poles at Velodrome to view track conditions could easily be added to new computer/web system.

OLD BUSINESS:
Some track repairs completed in Fall, 2007. Mark Harris communicated with Phil Yoder and some patchwork was completed in the fall on the high side of the track.
NEW BUSINESS:
Nobody’s fingers were fast enough to keep up with Barry Taerbaum’s myriad of great suggestions. We did discuss the field maximum in the Cat4’s, mechanical bicycle safety, higher level racer to advise Cat4’s on track etiquette, common practice of form while racing. Barry wore a pink shirt.
Mentor’s suggested for all CAT4 upgrades prior to first race; also suggested that Manfred Ray and Dave Fowkes could keep eyes on track for new racers and direct to a mentor; there was conflict in opinions on those in attendance regarding feasibility; everyone
agreed that safety was first and foremost, a concern.
Also, try and run 3 races per race category. Many times Cat4 races get reduced to 2 races, due to the large fields being split into 2.
